Shane McMahon, son of Trump cabinet member, poured $500G into cannabis company

President Trump’s cabinet member who runs the U.S. Small Business Administration has a son with high hopes for the legal marijuana industry. But now he is suing the company he invested in.

Shane McMahon, the son of SBA Administrator Linda McMahon and body-slamming businessman and WWE founder Vince McMahon, has invested heavily in a company that produces pre-fabricated modules for growing pot, according to court papers.

In 2015, Shane ponied up $500,000 for a large stake in the Connecticut-based firm EnviroGrow, which sells the modules in states where the drug is legal for medical or recreational use.

Shane’s role in the business was to help the modules – which look like shipping containers – get some buzz in the fast-growing world of cannabis farms and sales.

Despite the fact EnviroGrow was only going to sell its products in states which legalized the drug, this is noteworthy because his mother, Linda, is a member of President Donald Trump’s staff as the head of the Small Business Administration (SBA). Trump’s top law man, Attorney General Jeff Sessions is strongly against the legalization of marijuana for any reason. The SBA also doesn’t provide investment capital to cannabis companies.

While this perhaps isn’t a good look for Linda in conservative circles, it may not be much of an issue, as her son is suing to get his investment back. Sources say Shane visited EnivroGrow’s manufacturing facility in Colorado, “found it virtually nonexistent” and filed suit.

The McMahons, their lawyers and the SBA declined to comment on the story, but EnviroGrow’s owner and CEO say they’re a growing business (pun semi-intended) and are denying Shane’s allegations.
